Generation United Remix Rumble with Boomwhackers Jam Session

0

Becky Watson, MBA, Board Certified Music Therapist during the Generations United Generations Remix Conference, Milwaukee, WI June 16, 2017.

Thank you, Generations United program committee, for allowing me to close the Inspiriting 2017 Remix intergenerational Conference by facilitating an interactive “Remix Rhythm Rumble” presentation for 250 older adult health care professionals, youth program directors, intergenerational program directors, friends and families.

This purpose of this interactive presentation was to demonstrate how Rhythm can to bridge generations and create connections for older adults and youth through an interactive music making activity with boomwhackers.

The attendees were empowered to play music together to create a beautiful rhythmic tune … it was so rhythmic that I accompanied them with my pocket flute and danced around the room. We closed with rumbling (playing very fast) our boomwhackers as team to a climatic finish to end the conference.

Closing reflections comments from the attendees included: “wow, I feel so energized from playing together.  There are so many ways to use rhythm to build community, this was wonderful, and So Inspired.”

If you’d like a digital copy of the “10 steps to establish rhythm” handout as referenced in the video, please email:  info@music4wellness.net

Thank you Cathy Feldkamp and Leslie Henry and other volunteers and staff for assisting and inviting me to share my passion of music to bridge the generations through Boomwhackers. I’m honored to part of this amazing conference! #
