This Health Beat Video demonstrates the use of “red, white and blue” conga shakers during Patriotic sessions with older adults living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The shakers allow for creativity, gross motor movement, cognitive stimulation, memory recall, expressive communication and rhythm for older adults.
The sound varies for each shaker (loud, medium, soft) depending on the color. The matching color signs allow for sense of control, memory recall and eye contact.
