Shaking UP Wellness with Maracas Health Beat Video … Olé!

It’s early May and time for a Cinco de Mayo Rhythmic Fiesta with Maracas!!  Olé!

 

This Health Beat video illustrates various types and sounds of maracas and how to use them in celebration of a Mexican Cinco de Mayo Fiesta!   This video is in front of a beautiful inlet on the Lafayette River in Norfolk, VA.

 

I also like to use this opportunity to discuss Mexican culture with older adults and their care partners living with dementia.

 

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for “fifth of May”) is a celebration held on May 5.  The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.
