Freely Flying Streamers and Scarves during Butterfly Release Picnic for Sentara Hospice Services

1

I was honored to serve Sentara Hospice Services with interactive and positive Music Therapy activities for their Butterfly Release Picnic at Newport News Park.

This Health Beat video is live from the Butterfly release picnic and illustrates the beautiful, colorful, light and easy to use streamers. We moved with the streamers and sang several songs regarding colorful butterflies flying in the blue sky.

Each streamer is 7 ft in length and made of 70 inch diameter, lightweight nylon kite material; handles are 18″ long. The colors are vibrant and the handles are unbreakable. Sold in sets of 5 so you get one of each color: Yellow, Turquoise, Chartreuse, Pink, and Royal Purple. These streamers may be purchased at: www.westmusic.com

Color butterfly songs performed by performed by A.J. Jenkins may be viewed and easily adapted from kidstv123: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl4rxxiJ2Js

Quality, compassionate care for people facing a life-limiting illness or injury is the hallmark of hospice care. Hospice care involves a team-oriented approach to expert medical care, pain and symptom management, and emotional and spiritual support tailored to the person’s specific needs and wishes. Care and support is also provided to the person’s loved ones.

Sentara Home Care Services provides a full spectrum of home care services to meet the individual needs of patients. In the past, many of our patients would have had to remain in the hospital for therapy. But today, the highly skilled team of clinicians with Sentara Home Care Services partners with individual physicians to coordinate the multiple therapies and services each patient may require – from skilled nursing care and infusion therapy to respiratory care and medical equipment. Our patients also benefit at home from much of the same advanced technology available in Sentara hospitals.
