This Health Beat Video illustrates the benefits of using signs, maracas and scarves for older adults living with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. These colorful props are a very effective tool to help communicate without words, especially for older adults. The red scarf and maracas may be used for tactile stimulation, gross and fine motor skills, expressive communication, socialization and enjoyment.
