0

If you have decided that you do want to pursue a career in singing you will need to eventually consider taking singing voice lessons. The recording industry has cut throat competition and the only way for a person to make it here is accumulating all the knowledge that you can regardless of where you are going to use the information; in reality show, in an audition or while making a demo tape; it will be very useful for you. Many people make comments about how a particular performer on TV could’ve done a better job and the advises are doled out because people are so sure than they could’ve done a better job. Regardless of how talented you are if you don’t have the sound foundation of knowledge to stand on, it will be a rough ride for you. Singing voice lessons can help you by teaching you about the various aspects of singing such as vocabulary, pitch, tone, breath control, voice range etc. So, whether you are an accomplished singer or a beginner singing voice lessons are a perfect way to hone your skills.

However, it becomes difficult for beginners to afford singing voice lessons. For many beginners the only option is to find free lessons and if you are one of them, here are a few tips to help you.

The first is to approach the church choir; you can get free vocal coaching during the choir practice sessions. The fact that most choir leaders are accomplished singers themselves so you will be able to learn a lot from them is an added advantage. If you want to refine your singing skills a choir is good place to do so. And you will be able to work on your singing while you do something for your community.

It is not unusual to find vocal instructors who beginner level lessons for free. A good way to find coaches in your area would be to look on Craiglist or in the local yellow pages. You will have to talk to the coach about free lessons if any offered by him/her. If you are a beginner, this is a wonderful opportunity to get a feel for singing lessons.

The internet is your other obvious choice. With a little bit of browsing , you will be able to find many sites with free tutorials and instructional videos. You can also find trainers who are willing to offer free lessons online. Sites like youtube and yahoo videos also have their fair share of instructional videos which may be helpful. But there is so much information online that its easy to get lost so follow only a few reliable sources.

You can also find books and instructional videos related to singing voice lessons in your local library.

You will find many music stores in malls and shopping centers that have free music lessons for their regular customer. Quite a few of these shops will expect you to register and be a regular student.
