0

What are our wonderful older adults living with dementia enjoying the snow?? Throughout this snowy week, we enjoyed an energizing, stimulating and engaging music making therapy sessions by Ringing in the New Year to a modified version of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” with Jingle Bells. We also sang “Sleigh Ride and shook bells to Carol of the Bells.”

Then we used sound shape drums and tapped in a rhythmic style to “Let t Snow and Walking in a Winterland.” Then each we sang “Frosty the Snowman”, passed around and shared the REAL SNOW and discussed the texture, temperature, color of snow and how to build a snowman. Then we drew pictures of snowman on our sound shape drums.

No feeling of Cabin Fever during SNOW Days for our older adults … Yes, even older adults can enjoy snow days just as children do when school is closed. This music making experience bring and meaningful, purposeful and creative activity for everyone! It’s a great way to celebrate the New Year in a Ringing fashion. Happy New Year everyone and may you have a prosperous 2017! #luvservingwithmusic
