Lullaby Music Therapy Themed Sessions

0

It was a blast creating a Lullaby Music Therapy themed sessions during a Pajama Party at ASA Village at Woods Edge in Franklin.

Our session included rhythm stick movement songs including tapping “hammers” while singing “If I Were a Hammer.” To enhance problem solving skills and team work, the residents created a symbol with rhythm sticks on the floor … they chose to design a “star” and placed their rhythm stick to make a beautiful design.

Then we played “Name that Tune” Lullaby Song, listened to the song, sang the songs, and categorized the song into the following categories: “Sleep, Lullaby, Hush, Good Night.” The resident favorites included: Rock N Roll Lullaby, Sleepy Time Gal, Hush Little Baby, Good night my Love, Good Night Irene, and Lion Sleeps Tonight. We then sang several Lullaby songs including: Good Night Ladies, Twinkle Little Star.” We then transitioned into singing our prayers through hymns utilizing the hymns in the village books.

The scarves and ribbon streamers were distributed as the residents moved and grooved to Frosty the Snowman, Let it Snow, and Winter wonderland. The session closed by singing “Happy Trails by singing “goodbye” to each resident reinforcing names and if they enjoyed the session.

Reflective comments included: “I absolutely loved this session, wonderful, when are you coming back, I feel so wonderful and fabulous, energized, and great!”

Thank you Billie Turner for inviting me to your Pajama Party and allowing me to share my passion to enrich lives of your wonderful residents! Pictured with the wonderful staff at ASA Village.
